This evening Josh and I went out and picked 6lb of blackberries. (It's funny, but when it comes to weighing fruit for preservers and jam, I always measure it in pounds). Josh ate quite a few, but enjoyed being out and the berries are good. I've sorted them out, removed all (actually most as I'll miss some) the caterpillars and frozen some nice ones for pies and the others for jam. Yum

  1. Tonight, I've been Jammin'. Not like Bob Marley, but with 8 pounds of blackberries. I brought to the boil, added 8 pounds of sugar, then boiled until I was able to get it a drop to set on a cold plate, then bottled into hot jars (warmed in the oven to just under 100 degrees C) and lids bought to the boil. Always a bit messy and the pot turned out to be about 1lb of fruit too small.
Thanks to Carolyn for helping, especially with the clean up.
